7 Very Important Tips For any Maths Course.
Mathematics courses are a must for every student regardless of course of study at least in your year one of university or during your secondary school days. Most times, most students complain bitterly about mathematics courses. Yet, we all agree that no matter how difficult a subject is, once you understand the rudiments, it can be well taken care of.
Below are some cool tips for passing maths courses:
1. Always read math problems completely before beginning any calculations. Ensure you read the questions carefully and thoroughly, to understand the problem. If you rush through reading the questions, you will most likely misunderstand what you are being asked, and that is the first step towards failing that question.
2. Remember, that it may be necessary to “solve” for additional information in a problem before being able to arrive at the final answer. These questions are called “two-step” problems and are testing your ability to recognize what information is needed to arrive at an answer.
3. Remain confident as you approach a question, because once you get scared over the difficulty of a question you start failing. So focus on the things you know about mathematics, the general rules. Do not get flustered or overwhelmed, stay calm, focused and confident, and you will most likely do very well.
4. In certain questions, you might be able to guess what your answer should be, or something approximate to the answer. After you perform your calculations, see if your final answer is close to your guess.
5. If time permits, go back and resolve the more difficult problems on the teston a separate piece of paper. If these “new” answers are the same as your previous answers, chances are good that your solution is correct.
6. Be sure that your answer is in the proper unit. If a problem involves inches, feet AND yards, be sure to make the appropriate conversions so that all of your values are in the same unit of measure (for example, change all values to feet).
7. Ensure that the answer, you get makes logical sense. For example, if a question asks you to find the number of feet in a drawing and your answer comes out to be a negative number, know that this answer is incorrect. (Distance is a positive concept – we cannot measure negative feet.)
